Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the apparatus for manufacturing the forge welded pipe, enabled to prevent the forge welded pipe from being bent during the cooling period due to the temperature difference between the side edges and the middle zone of the strip, by first heating the whole of steel strip, next by induction heating both side edges of the strip to specified temperatures, and at the same time, by giving a specified strain to the strip while it is formed into a forge welded pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The whole of the steel strip 2 is heated first by the heating furnace 1, and next, its both side edges 21, 22, only are heated by the induction heating device 4; hereby, such the temperature distribution as about 1,000°C at the middle zone and about 1,300°C at both edges, for example, is given to the strip 2. The rolls of the roll forming machine 3 are deflectively arranged in order to prevent the forge welded pipe 23 from being bent dueing the cooling period due to the difference between the heating temperatures; by this roll forming machine 3, the strip 2 is successively bent from a circular arc shape to a pipe shape, and finally the butted or lapped edges 21, 22, are forge welded for finishing the forge welded pipe 23.
