Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance and toughness of an Fe-Cr-Ni-Mo super-high tensile steel while reducing the use of expensive Co, Mo, etc. by lowering the C and Mn contents of the steel and increasing the Si and Ti contents.
CONSTITUTION: This super-high tensile steel contains <0.05% C, 0.3W6.0% Si, <0.1% Mn, 2.0W13.0% Cr, 2.0W17.5% Ni, 0.5W5.0% Mo, 0.5W3.0% Ti and 0.05W0.5% Al and has 12.0W21.0% Cr+Ni content. This steel is subjected to soln. heat treatment by heating to ≥about 80°C to well dissolve the added elements in the matrix, and then it is held at 300W650°C for about 0.5W100hr to carry out aging. Thus, an intermetallic compound of the added elements or the elements and Fe is deposited to obtain super-high strength and high corrosion resistance without deteriorating the toughness.
