Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate and purify erythropoietin which is an essential factor for the differentiation of erythrocyte cell, easily and in high purity, by the selective adsorption of an erythropoietin-containing solution with immobilized erythropoietin antibody, followed by the eluation of the adsorbed compound.
CONSTITUTION: An erythropoietin-containing solution (e.g. urine, plasma, etc.) is brought into contact with an immobilized erythropoietin antibody to effect the selective adsorption of erythropoietin taking advantage of the cross-reactivity of other kinds of erythropoietin. The adsorbed erythropoietin is isolated by elution. The immobilized erythropoietin anitbody can be prepared by carrying an erythropoietin antibody to a proper immobilization carrier, and making insoluble in water. The erythropoietin antibody is obtained, e.g. by administering erythropoietin as an immunogen to a proper animal, immunizing the animal by inoculation, and separating and purifying from the antiserum of the animal.
