Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the ignition timing from unnecessarily changing by controlling the ignition timing on the basis of the number of times of ignition or ignition timing from the establishment of a predetermined measurement starting condition to the generation of knocking. CONSTITUTION:A pressure is transmitted to a pressure inlet port through a pipe arrangement 13 from a suction manifold 12 of an engine 1 to measure the suction manifold pressure. A controlling computer 6 obtains the engine rotational speed from a time interval in which a rotational angle pulse generated in a rotation sensor 4, and computes the suction manifold pressure from the output voltage from a pressure sensor 21 to measure the driving condition of the engine, and the knocking generating condition is detected from the output signal of the knock sensor 2 to control the ignition time. That is, the number of times of ignition or ignition time from the establishment of the predetermined measurement starting condition to the generation of knocking, is measured, and the ignition time is controlled in correspondence to this measured result.
