Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable preservation of a soil sample and its observation and finger- touch from the outside, by housing the soil sample in a pouch made of a thin film which has a high transparency and is hermetic and soft, then removing excess air out of the pouch and sealing up the pouch.
CONSTITUTION: A soil pack 10 is a bottomed angular pouch and has an open end 10a and is made of a synthetic resin such as polypropylene, which has enough airtightness, softeness, strength and working property and high transparency. The soil pack 10 is fitted with a socket 11. To preserve picked-up soil 14, it is housed in the soil pack 10 immediately after the soil is picked up. A part of the pack located near the open end 10a and shown by an arrow X is thermally sealed up. After excess air 15 is removed through the socket 11, the socket is shut off with a plug 12. As a result, the soil is preserved without changing the contained conditions of grains, air and water of the soil and its technological properties can be detected by observation and finger-touch from the outside.
