Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve higher reliability and productivity by placing plural optical fibers in the guides on a substrate, providing lenses of the same outside diameter at their ends and providing a means of attenuating, branching and wavelength- selecting light or moving the optical path of light between the lenses. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of optical fibers 21-23 are disposed in the guides 41 of V-grooves or U-grooves provided on a substrate 20. Bar-form lenses 31-32 having the same diameter as that of the fibers 21-23 are respectively disposed at their ends. A means of attenuating light, a means of branching light, a means of selecting the wavelength of light or a means 24 of moving the optical path of light is provided between the lenses 31-33. Hence, at the assembling the need for the position adjustment of the lenses 31-33 or fibers 21-23 is virtually eliminated and the practicable device of high reliability and good productivity may be obtained.
