Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an integrated circuit for electronic clocks, which can be operated by both a lithium battery and a silver oxide battery, by furnishing the integrated circuit with an ability to sense the kind of batteries and change the waveform of a pulse motor driving pulse in accordance with the kind sensed of the battery. CONSTITUTION:When a silver oxide battery is connected with terminals 1a, 1b, a regulator 3 generates a constant voltage of 1V, which is applied to each circuit in a clock and which is also inputted into an input terminal D of FF4. At this time, the threshold voltage of FF4 is 0.75V so that an output therefrom is zero. In a pulse motor driving pulse generating circuit 7, a pulse motor driving pulse of 1 second cycle and a constant pulse width is formed, which is shifted at level shifters 18, 19 to the battery voltage level through a waveform conversion circuit 13 to drive a pulse motor 22. When a lithium battery is connected with the terminals 1a, 1b, the threshold voltage of the FF4 is 1.5V so that an output therefrom is one. As a result, a motor driving pulse is interrupted 13 due to a pulse of 4096Hz from a terminal F3 of a frequency dividing circuit 6 so that the pulse motor 22 is driven accurately in the same manner as in the case where a silver oxide battery is used.
