Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst capable of forming high-purity γ-L-glutamyl-L- cysteine having an activity for a long time in high yield, by combining γ-glutamyl- cysteine synthetase with a carrier, e.g. an imidocarbonate derivative.
CONSTITUTION: γ-Glutamylcysteine synthetase, obtained by extracting swine livers, malt, rat kidneys, is combined with a carrier composing an imidocarbonate derivative, of agarose, carbonate, derivative of cellulose, an acid azide derivative of CM-cellulose or polyacrylamide to give the desired immobilized enzyme catalyst. L-glutamic acid is reacted with an equimolar amount of L-cysteine synthetase in a tris hydrochloric acid buffer in the presence of said catalyst to form γ-glutamyl cysteine synthetase.
EFFECT: Active in a wider pH range with great repetition and heat stability.
