Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:β,γ-Dihydropolyprenyl alcohol of formula I (n is integer 8W10).
EXAMPLE: 3,7,11,15,19,23,27,31,35,39 - decamethyl - 6,10,14,18,22,26,30,34,38 - tetracontanonaen-1-ol.
USE: A low toxic hypotensive agent with great safety. Useful for preventing and treating of various hypertension, e.g. renal, endoclinic, cardiovasclar, neurotic, and essential.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula II is reacted with cycnoacetic acid lower alkyl ester in the presence of a base, to obtain the compound of formula III (R is lower alkyl), which is reduced into the compound of formula IV. The compound of formula IV thus obtained is decarboxylated and hydrolyzed into the compound of formula V, which is reduced to give the object compound of formula I.
