Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the surface temperature of fixing roller from dropping to the fixing failure region, by detecting the unstable points of roller temperature control, such as the end point of warm-up, and lighting the heating element by force.
CONSTITUTION: In a heat roller type fixing part in a copying machine or the like, the temperature of the roller is kept at a constant level by detecting the roller temperature and controlling the heating element, and the heating element is lit up by force under certain conditions where the control characteristics thereof become unstable, for example, (1) right after warm-up of fixing part, (2) in the initial period of repeat copy operation, and (3) when the room temperature is low. Immediately after warming up when the sensitivity of a temperature detecting part 3 is low, a warm-up end detecting part 9 keeps the fixing roller 1 warm by force until the sensitivity of the temperature detecting part 3 is stabilized as the ambient temperature rises, so that the surface temperature is prevented from dropping down to the fixing failure region.
