Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in transfer efficiency with simple constitution by providing the specified modulus of elasticity to the surface covering of a transfer means and making the pressing force on carrier surface to the specified value.
CONSTITUTION: An electrostatic recording head 2 forms desired electrostatic latent images on a drum 1. In a magnetic brush developing device 3, the latent images are developed by toner. A transfer roller 4 comprises covering the surface of roll-form rigid core material with e.g., polyethylene, polyfluoroethylene-propylene, polyamide resin, polyacetal, vinyl chloride, etc. of 10kg/mmW50kg/mm in elastic coefficient. During transfer, the dielectric surface is pressed by pressing force of at least 30kg/ cm2 or more and 200kg/cm2 or less, whereby the toner images are transferred to the transfer paper.
