Abstract
PURPOSE: The title resins, having benzene nuclei of styrene units substituted by a specific group, is capable of making an ester linkage with an amino acid under mild conditions and preparing an ester sufficiently stable under reaction conditions of pertide synthesis.
CONSTITUTION: Styrene resins consist of styrene polymers or copolymers having a repeating unit shown by the formula I, wherein benzene nuclei in the repeating unit are at least partly substituted by the group shown by the formula II, III, or IV (X and Y are sulfonic acid residues). Styrene (co)polymers having benzene nuclei in the repeating unit, which are at least partially substituted by the group shown by the formula V (Z is amino acid, peptide, or residue after removal of one terminal carboxyl group from peptide or protein), are prepared by reacting styrene (co)polymers having a substituent group shown by the sormula IV with an amino acid, a peptide, or a protein. by a simple step under mild conditions. This styrene (co)polymers are used as a carrier for peptide synthesis.
