Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform a removal process separately from the exhaustion process of methyl bromide by incorporating a collecting means to absorb methyl bromide gas in an adsorbent in a methyl bromide removal method in which it burned and decomposed in an incinerator for detoxication.
CONSTITUTION: Methyl bromide gas from the fumigating warehouse 1 is sucked up through the valve 2 and the filter 3 by means of the fan 4 and then sent to the adsorber 7 where methyl bromide is adsorbed. The adsorber 7 is operated by an alternately switching method according to predetermined time cycles and the methyl bromide-saturated adsorber is desorbed by high-temperature air heated in the heat exchanger 11 after being introduced from the fan 12. The desorbed high concentration methyl bromide gas is then introduced through the valve 8 into the incinerator 10 where it is burned and decomposed by the burner 9. The high-temperature gas, after the decomposition, is cooled by the heat exchanger 11 and the cooler 14, then treated by an alkaline solution in the absorber 16 to remove hydrogen bromide, and lastly discharged to the atmosphere.
