Abstract
PURPOSE:To get a low-cost magnetic bearing stable in two directions, by utilizing the repulsive force in the direction normal to the axis generated on the side of a magnetized face for gaining the horizontal retaining strength. CONSTITUTION:Stationary discs 82, 82a are fitted to the external circumference of movable discs 31, 31a on magnetic bearings 3, 3a which make use of vertical repulsive force, and a cylindrical gap is formed between the external circumference of movable discs 31, 31a and the internal circumference of stationary discs 82, 82a, identical poles being opposed to each other. The thickness T of permanent magnets of stationary discs 82, 82a is equal to the thickness t of movable discs 31, 31a plus maximum displacement deltam in the vertical direction. Sufficiently powerful horizontal repulsive force FH is accordingly available in the entire area of usage. The application of adequately thick bodies with high magnetic permeabiliby to both sides of a permanent magnet can provide them with magnetic characteristic equal to a permanent magnet with required thickness.
