Abstract

PURPOSE: When a polyurethan elastomer with a relatively high density is reaction injection molded, a specific amount of halogenated hydrocarbon foaming agent and water are added to the active hydrogen component, thus producing moldings with good appearance and high releasability.
CONSTITUTION: When polyurethane elastomer of 0.8W1.2g/cm3 is molded by injecting under pressure a mixture of the active hydrogen component containing 2 or more active hydrogens, such as polyetherpolylol or polyesterpolyol and another component containing 2 or more isocyanate groups, such as TDI or MDI, into a mold, 2W5%, based on the active hydrogen component, of a halogenated hydrocarbon foaming agent as trichlorofluoromethane, and 0.1W0.4% of water are added to prevent the formation of voids on the surface of the moldings, and give the moldings with good appearance such as flatness and luster and increased physical properties as surface hardness and flexural elasticity.
