Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a relief spring improved in safety and resistant to impact and fatigue, thus eventually effective for reducing the weight of an automobile, by filament winding resin-impregnated glass fiber and carbon fiber around a mandrel and cutting it after hardening. CONSTITUTION:Glass fiber filament and carbon fiber, both being impregnated with thermosetting resin, are wound around a mandrel 1 having arcs 2 corresponding to the shape of a relief spring, the outermost (the third) and center (the first) layers 6, 4 being with glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) and the inner (the second) layer 5 being with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and the filament winding being symmetric in the direction of thickness with a neutral axis O-O' as a symmetrical axis. After treatment of thersetting, the form is cut off to get a plurality of relief springs.
