Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the calculation of the balance of water flow rate and sludge amount by information from the minimum detection terminals by such an operation that the amount of drawn excess sludge from a sewage treatment process using activated sludge method becomes equal approximately to the multiplicated amount of sludge in the process.
CONSTITUTION: In an activated sludge method-using sewage treatment process, having plural aeration tanks and more than one final sedimentation basins, in case where the concentration of flocs and flow rate at the outlet of aeration tank are not measured for all the aeration tanks, the total amount of sludge coming out of aeration tank is estimated with high accuracy by using information from the minimum detection termianls. The requisitely minimum detection terminals are determined by a sludge balance equation for process in such a way that unknown variable becomes one mutually. In the equation, K is unknown variable and QW, SR, Q, MLSS, QR, Q, etc. are known variables, or detection terminals. Thus, the estimation and control of the amount and interface height of sludge in final sedimentation basin and also the flocs concentration in the mixed liquid of aeration tank can be performed with high accuracy by utilizing the total amount of sludge coming out of aeration tank or by controlling it by the aforesaid method.
