Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat resistant steel with superior thermal fatigue resistance and superior corrosion resistance to corrosive gas by adding a specified range of C and N to a Cr-Co type heat resistant steel to precipitate carbonitride.
CONSTITUTION: The heat resistant steel contains 0.05W0.50%, N 0.02W0.30%, (C+N 0.10W0.70%), Si 0.20W3.0%, Mn<2.0%, Cr 7W15% and Co 0.5W5.0%. The steel may further contain one or more out of Ni 0.2W5.0%, Mo 0.15W5.0%, W 0.15W3.0%, Nb 0.05W2.0%, V 0.05W1.0%, Ti 0.05W0.50%, Cu 0.3W3.0% and B 0.001W0.10%.
USE: A material for the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine.
