Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high purity ammonium phosphate contg. little arsenic and Cd by treating an aq. soln. of crude monoammonium or diammonium hydrogenphosphate with a specified amt. of an alkali sulfied and/or H2S; removing the H2S with inert gas or the like; and concentrating the treated soln. to a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of monoammonium or diammonium hydrogenphosphate obtd. by neutralizing crude phosphoric acid is treated at 0W100°C for 1W3hr with Na2S or K2S and/or H2S in an amt. of 80mols or more, pref. 100W250mols to the amt. of arsenic contained in the hydrogenphosphate, and N2 gas or air is blown or counter-currently contacted to remove the residual H2S. The treated soln. is then concentrated so that the water content is not reduced to below 0.8 time as high as the monoammonium or diammonium bydrogenphosphate content by wt. When the water content is reduced to below 0.8 time, the arsenic content increases. Thus, high purity ammonium phosphate contg. little arsenic and Cd is obtd., and it is usable as a food additive.
