Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of mooring operation of a ship, by adsorbing the ship by means of a land adsorption device which can follow the movement of the ship while relasing or adsorbing.
CONSTITUTION: Mooring devices 1, 1 are aligned on a pier to moor a ship S. A lip rubber 2b on an adsorption memeber 2 of the mooring device 1 is put in touch with the external side wall of the ship S. Then a valve 5d made on a tube 5" of an adsorption device 5 is closed, another valve 5c of a tube 5' is opened and a vacuum pump 5a is driven to moor the ship S to the pier g. Supporting members 3, 3 of the mooring devices 1, 1 are flexible for following the vertical movement of the ship S to some extent. If the movement is too large due to the tidal rise and fall, the valve 5d is opened to let in air for releasing the ship from the adsorption member 2, and as the ship returns to a position within a reach of the supporting member 3, the adsorption system functions again.
