Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce dark attenuation particulary for primary charging in repetitive two-color processes and increase charging speed and make surface potentials easy to be carried on by specifying the photoreceptor and charging exposure method.
CONSTITUTION: The photoreceptor which comprises laminating the first photoconductive layer 12 having sensitivity to light of a color A under negative charging, a trap layer 13 and the second photoconductive layer 14 which has sensitivity to light of a color B under positive charging and has virtually no sensitivity to the light of the color A is negatively charged by a charger 2 under the even radiation of the light of the color A. Next, positive charging is applied by a charger 3, after which white color images are exposed. The photoreceptor surface potentials of the positions corresponding to the white ground of the original become nearly 0. Positive surface potentials by the secondary charging are retained in the unexposed parts. The portions corresponding to the color B of the original reset to the state of primary charging, whereby the negative potentials are produced. The respective latent images having been formed are developed by the developers TA, TB of opposite polarities from those of the latent images.
