Abstract

PURPOSE: To assuredly feed sheets one by one from a pile of sheets by use of a paper feed roller and a control roller which rotate in the opposite directions.
CONSTITUTION: When two or more sheets of paper have been fed out from a pile P of sheets of paper at the same time, the frictional forces of a paper feed roller 5 and a control roller 9 act on the upper face of the uppermost sheet and the lower face of the lowermost sheet respectively, and the inter-sheet frictional force is smaller than any of the above-said frictional forces, so that the uppermost sheet will move forth while the lowermost sheet will move back. When the lowermost sheet has moved back, the sheet directly above it comes in contact with the roller 9 and is moved back as described above. Finally, only the uppermost sheet remains between the rollers 5 and 9, and is fed out by the frictional force of the roller 5 without trouble. Thus, only the uppermost sheet is fed out assuredly even when two or more sheets has been fed; therefore, the jam of paper in the following steps can be prevented.
