Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title steel by adding a restricted amt. of B to austenitic stainless steel of a specified compsn. and by restricting the ratio of Al/N.
CONSTITUTION: The austenitic stainless steel consists of, by wt, C ≤0.1%, Si ≤ 2.0%, Mn ≤3.0%, Ni 7.0W25.0%, Cr 10.0W30.0%, B 0.5W2.0%, Al ≤0.2%, N ≤0.1% (Al/N=2W60), and the balance iron and impurities. The addn. of the restricted amt. of B and the interaction of Al and N make the austenite grains of the steel fine and improve the workability, so the steel is effectively used as the control the shielding materials for a nuclear reactor with respect to manufacture and safety.
