Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate carbon dioxide and steam while making effective use of the latent heat of steam by vaporizing condensed water, in a condenser under reduced press., separated from the title mixed gas by cooling under press.
CONSTITUTION: Mixed gas 6 of carbon dioxide and steam as a by-product of a hydrogen producer or the like is pressurized with compressors 1, fed to condenser 2, and cooled. After separating condensed water in separator 3 carbon dioxide contg. a little steam is cooled with cooling water in heat exchanger 4 to thoroghly remove moisture, and carbon dioxide is taken out of the system. On the other hand, high press. condensed water is passed through reducing valve 5, vaporized in condenser 2, and turned into steam 7 while cooling the mixed gas, and steam 7 is taken out of the system. By supplying part of the condensed water for intermediate cooling of the mixed gas passing through multistage compressors 1, the load of compressors 1 can be relieved.
