Abstract
PURPOSE: To monitor recording contents by slight light immediately after recording, by recording a still picture on a disc by setting a high level for recording and a low level for reproducing to a servo system which controls irradiation light from one laser light source.
CONSTITUTION: The output light of laser unit 1 is led to light modulator 2, where it is modulated by controlling its intensity by a recording signal in recording operation. In reproducing a signal, light weak enough not to change disc 8 in quality is outputted continuously. Disc motor 9, turning disc 8 at a fixed rotational frequency, is moved in an arrow-A direction by a carrier 10 so as to form concentric recording tracks. Reference voltage setting circuit 15 changes reproducing reference voltage VP over to recording reference voltage VR or reversely so that a still picture can be recorded on the disc by one laser light source while recording contents can also be monitoted by light weak enough not to change the quality of the disc.
