Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a disc brake from squeaking, by attaching an expansible member to the part of a piston or a bad back metal to which a pushing force is not directly transmitted.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of projections 17 are provided on the back metal 16 which supports the liner 16 of a frictoin pad. A vibration-proof plate 18 made of an expansible material such as asbestus-containing resin is fixed on the projections 17. Since the thickness of the vibration-proof plate 18 is made slightly larger than that of the projections 17, no effective pushing force is applied to the pad back metal 16 in braking operation until the piston comes into contact with the vibration-proof plate 18 and the plste is compressed. Thus, the minute vibration energy of the pad 14 is effectively absorbed to prevent the brake from squeaking. A vibration-proof material 21 may be fixed on an end face of the piston 12.
