Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a metallizing evaporation source whose surface is protected from the corrosion due to Se, by coating the evaporation source for vacuum metallizing of Se or Se-base alloy with a corrosion resistant metal which does not melt at the metallizing temp.
CONSTITUTION: An evaporation source, e.g., a boat made of stainless steel, for vacuum metallizing with Se or Se base metarial is plated with a corrosion resistant metal, e.g., gold, which is solid at the evaporation temp. of the Se base material, pref. in thickness of 5W15μm. Hereby, troubles such as voltage drop etc. are removed because corrosion is prevented, so that no change in contact resistance is caused at the contact of electrode with the evaporation source.
