Abstract

PURPOSE:For effective heat recovery for molten slag while providing constant quality slag, slag is cooled in two chamber system so that molten slag from blast furnace is solidified while being transferred by conveyor in the slag solidification chamber, then dropped into the heat recovery chamber. CONSTITUTION:Molten blast furnace slag in the hopper 1 is poured in molds 12 on the conveyor 11 in the slag solidification chamber 2. Slag, while being transferred obliquely upward by conveyor 11 driven by gear 14, is cooled and solidified by air from the inlet 4 and dropped in the heat recovery chamber 16. High temperature conveyor 11 is cooled by air from the inlet 5 and used again to transfer molten slag. High temperature solid slag is cooled in the heat recovery chamber 16 by air from the air header 19. Both cooling air for heat recovery chamber and slag silidification chamber is heated to high temperature and dicharged from the outlet 7 to be effec tively recovered by the waste heat boiler 20.
