Abstract

PURPOSE: To seek increase in treatment efficiency for reuse of waste oil and waste grease with selective extraction of oil component and nondeteriorated additives in the wastes and with separation of unnecessary components through sedimentation, by incorporating acetone in an organic extraction solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A solvent is first prepared by mixing (1) 100 parts by wt. of an organic extraction solvent in ordinary use, such as a hydrocarbon solvent, ether solvent, alcohol solvent, etc. with (2) preferably 10W90 parts by wt. of acetone. Next, using the solvent, waste oil and/or waste grease from engine oil for motor vehicles and ships or spindle oil are treated to separate oil layer from unnecessary substances, thus effecting easy regeneration of active ingredients alone. If required, a small amount of acetone is further added to the regenerated oil layer to separate an oil component of higher purity.
