Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for ramming, vibrating, etc. at the molding by further adding the limited amount of the mixture of nonionic and anionic surfactants to the blended sand comprising adding a suitable amount of water to the respectively specified amounts of Al2O3 sand particles, potassium phosphate, etc. as well as Al powder, fluidizing the mixture then molding the same to the casting mold and allowing the mold to make exothermic setting.
CONSTITUTION: The undermentioned surfactants are added to the blended sand composed of Al2O3 sand particles 100 parts, potassium (sodium) phosphate 1 to 5 parts, Al powder 0.2 to 3 parts and a suitable amount of water and the mixture is fluidized. After this blended sand is molded to a casting mold or core, it is allow to make exothermic setting by itself. Namely, the mixture of nonionic and anionic surfactants 0.1 to 0.3 parts (based on 100 parts of Al2O3 sand particles). The casting mold of this method readily disintegrates in water after casting of molten metal and yet the blister of the casting mold is suppressed. This mold is used for casting of alloys of Al and Cu and casting iron (steel).
