Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the contamination of filtered water by relatively thickening a sand layer and jetting pressurized water from upper side in addition to reverse wash and jet flow stirring of the sand layer.
CONSTITUTION: A sand layer 11 is disposed above a porous plate 12. Under the plate 12 there is provided a closed conduit 13 for collecting purified filtered liquid. Feed water is supplied to a supply closed conduit 14 as shown in an arrow A, and introduced through an opening 16 into a small chamber 10, i.e. filter cell. During the passage through the sand layer 11, suspended matters are catched by sands, and purified water is introduced into the closed conduit 13 and passed through a outflow pipe 17 into a closed conduit 15 for the purified water. A pump P1 is suspended from a support 20 into the closed conduit 15 for the purified water, sucks the filtered water through a first change-over valve 21, and pressure-feeds the filtered water to the closed conduit 13 by means of a second change-over valve 22. The filtered water is jetted through the porous plate 12 into the sand layer 11. The single pump can be used for two different purposes, and a proper filtration can be conducted with a simple apparatus.
