Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a compact electrostastic filter with effective power efficiency, the equipment is provided with metallic and nonmetallic filters at specfic location downstream of its discharge electrode and air-permeable electrode.
CONSTITUTION: To electrically remove mist from contaminated gas, a casing 1 is provided in its inside with a plurality of discharge electrodes 2 at specified intervals in the direction perpendicular to gas flow and further its downstream a metal net or similar air-permeable ground electrode 3. It is further provided at downstream with filter material 5 consisting of nonmetallic filter 5a such as synthetic fiber and metallic filter 5b. Corona discharge across the electrodes 2 and 3 produced by direct power supply 4 causes mist in the gas to grow which is collected by the filter 5. Elimination of conventional dust collecting electrode reduces power consumption, limiting its use only to electrostatic mist coagualtion and contributes to compacted equipment.
