Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of deformation, deterioration, cracking, etc., in the ladle, by lining the specifically thick refractory insulator on the inner surface of the ladle for carrying the molten slag.
CONSTITUTION: The 10W100mm refractory insulator is lined on the inner surface of the ladle for the molten slag. Hereupon, the thermal conductivity of the refractory insulator is specified to be under 1.0kcal/m.hr.°C. If the thickness of the lining is to be the minimum 10mm, the thermal conductivity is specified to be about 0.1kcal/ m.hr.°C. As for the available refractory material, Al2O3, Sic, C, etc., are effective by reason of their property hardly reactive on the slag. These refractory raw materials after being regulated in their particle size is used as the aggregate, which is then added with the binder like as the alumina cement and clay, or the sodium silicate and phosphate, etc., resulting in a refractory material of indeterminate shape; this refractory material is applied to the inner surface of the iron skin by means of spraying, troweling, pouring, etc., method. Furthermore, if necessary, the inner surface of this lining is applied with the slag releasing agent into a thickness 0.1W5mm.
