Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title solid solution of uniform quality, with rapid cure, by adding hexametlylene tetramine to a blend of a solid novolake type phenolic resin and a solid resol type one, followed by melting and mixing at low temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: To a blend of a solid nevolak type phenolic resin and a solid resal type one with a blend ratio ranging from 95:5, to 5:95 is added 1W4wt.% of hexamethylene tetramine. The resulting composition is fed to an extruder with a charge zone temperature and an outlet zone temperature being controlled at room temperature W50°C and 60W130°C, respectively, followed by melting and mixing continuously to carry out extrusion.
