Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the iron loss of a rotor by making a magnetic flux density distribution of the rotor uniform.
CONSTITUTION: When a gap between main core 2 and rotor core 4 is g, a cross-section of magnetic flux passing of main core (eq. a cross-section perpendicular to radial direction) is S1 and a cross-section of magnetic flux passing of main core piece 2A (eq. a cross-section perpendicular to circumferential direction) is S2, g is set 0.8mm and less than 0.8mm and S2/S1 is set 16∼20%. In comparison to S1, if S2 may be too great or small, in general, the magnetic flux density is locally increased and the iron loss may be increased because it is proportional to substantially square of the magnetic flux density. This phenomenon can be found also when the gap is narrow. These relationships can be made clear by a characteristic curve as shown in the figure. As indicated in the figure, the iron loss can be reduced when g≤ 0.8mm, S2/S1=16∼20%.
