Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the even formation of molten metal pool surface despite the deviation in groove line and groove width by inverting and oscillating the groove width direction moving of arc by electric signal and controlling welding speed according to the fluctuations of gap.
CONSTITUTION: A detector 6 detects the arc current of the wire 3 in groove 2 and a differential amplifier 9 outputs the signal. When this coincides with the differential signal of the current values IO and IB from a reference signal generator 11, a traverse motor 13 is operated by a change-over switch 10, by which the wire 3 is moved between (a) and (b). Hence, even if the groove width changes, the wire 3 oscillates according to this and the penetration of the groove wall faces become wlways constant. However, unevenness occurs in bead faces, and therefore the periods T1, T2... which appear owing to the groove width change are measured by a counter 18 which synchronizes with a pulse signal generator. These are then changed to the groove width by an operator 19 and is input to a moving motor 22 after having been divided by the signal from the speed reference command device 23 by way of the divider 20, whereby the welding speed is controlled according to the groove width.
