Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyester composition capable of giving polyester fibers having improved pilling and snag vesistance, comprising a specific polyester and a polyethylene glycol.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) 99.95W95 wt. % of a polyester consisting of 80 mole % or more of polyethylene terephthalate in the repeating units of the main chain, prepared by copolymerizing 0.01W5mole % based on the total acid of diphenylsilanol (or its ester-forming derivative) and 0.01W2mole % of phosphoric acid (or its ester-forming derivative) and (B) 0.05W5wt. % of a polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of 600W3,000,000 is formed into fibers, drawn, and treated with hot water and/or steam at 80W160°C, preferably 95W 120°C.
