Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a transportation of a storage battery easier, by hermetically enclosing a negative and positive electrode plates to which a predetermined degree of a charge is applied, and when using said battery, by opening said battery, charging an electrolyte into the battery and causing the battery to generate power. CONSTITUTION:A negative and positive electrode plates, which have been charged to at least 80% of their full capacities, are enclosed in a battery casing and then sealed therein. For using the battery, the seal is opened and an electrolyte of a predetermined cncentration is filled in the battery to generate electricity. Here, it is preferable to construct an electrode group with a negative electrode and positive electrode plates, which have been charged to at least 80% of their theoretical capacities, linsed and dried, and with a separator plate interposed therebetween and to isolate said electrode plates from the external atmosphere. If desired, a negative and positive electrode plates, which are in a discharging state, are constructed into an electrode group together with a separator plate and then charged to at least 80% of their capacities by using an electrolyte of a given concentration. Then, the electrolyte held by the electrode group is removed. Thereafter, the electrode group is dried and sealed in a battery can. It is preferable to conduct the drying step of the electrode group in vacuo.
