Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the alkali-resisting property of electrode, by adding oxides of germanium, lead, etc. and forming porous anode, at the electrolysis of alkali chloride by anion exchange membrane method making ruthenium oxide as anode. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of metal oxides, selected from metals such as strontium, lanthanum, germanium, tin, lead, titanium, zirconium, antimony bismuth, riobium, tantalum, manganese, iron, cobalt and nickel, is added to ruthenium oxide. Adding amount is 1-70mol%. Gas and liquid permeable porous anode is formed by the ruthenium oxide and the above metal oxide powder. Forming means are performed by making the paste mixing the binder with the material powder and applying on aluminum foil and then, dissolving the above foil by caustic alkali after pressure welding on the ion exchange resin by heating. Physical properties of the porous anode are as follows, mean diameter of fine hole; 0.01-1,000 microns, porosity; 20-95%.
