Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit mass production of cells which have long life and do not display two step discharge by press-fitting the skelton surface in a three-dimensional porous silver body, which skelton surface is formed of silver oxide, onto the upper surface of a silver peroxide pellet. CONSTITUTION:The layer 6 made of the skelton 2 in a three-dimensional net-like porous body which has communication air holes 1 and whose surface is formed of silver oxide is press-fitted onto the upper surface of the positive electode pellet 7 made of silver peroxide, and the article thus formed is combined with zinc negative electrode 5, fabricating a cell. The diameter of each hole of the three-dimensional, net-like porous silver body is 3-0.1mm., but the diameter of about 0.1mm. through which silver peroxide powder can hardly pass is suitable. The silver oxide on the surface of the skelton 2 is formed as follows: the porous body is used as anode in 10% NaOH solution, using the method of anodic oxidation, and insoluble cathode is used for cathode, and proper amount of electric current is allowed to flow. Thus, with a simple method, two step discharge can be prevented, and silver peroxide cell having long life can be mass-produced.
