Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the stains of toner image owing to two-color development and enhance the quality of copied matter by separating and removing different color toners prior to entry of said different color toners or separating and removing the different color toners having mixed. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the conductive metal roller 20 of a developing device 6 which uses two-component-base developing material composed of toners and carriers is coated to constitute an insulation layer 20a. The material which charges to the polarity opposite from the polarity of the toners to be separated by making friction contact with carriers is selected for the material which forms the insulation layer 20a. Hence, the toners to be separated are attracted and scraped by a separating roller 19 and are thereby recovered. In the case of using one-component type developing material, the separating roller is made biasing roll member 21 and is connected to a DC electric power source 22. In case the different color toners have mixed, a conductive net 62 is provided and the toners are attracted by an electrode 64 or the toners to be separated are removed by being vibrated by an excitor.
