Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable sleeve yoke of automotive universal joints, etc. to be molded in one step without any material loss by pressing a solid bar material from its one end in the closed space created by mutually pairing two dies and pressing the other end to one die thereby branching said material.
CONSTITUTION: A guide hole 1a for solid bar material is penetrated in a circular cylindrical lower die 1 and a conical face 1b is provided to the top end of the guide hole 1a. The upper die 2 has the protrusion 2b for branching the end part of the bar material to two or more portions when said material is pushed thereto, in the position opposing to the guide hole 1a and impression is formed by this protrusion 2b and inner central end face 2a. This lower die 1 and upper die 2 are shrink fitted to back-up members 3, 4 respectively. At the molding, the upper die 2 is lowered to form a closed space s. After the solid bar material 8 is inserted into this space S, one end 8a of the bar material 8 is pressed in the arrow P direction by way of a punch 5 and the other end of the bar material 8 is pressed to the impression, whereby the part having two or more yokes is molded.
