Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform a series of working from a low speed deep cutting to a high speed finishing work with one unit by having the tool spindle supported by fluid with a radial bearing section and a thrust bearing section.
CONSTITUTION: The pressure fluid from a pressure fluid generator 30 is adjusted with a retulating valve 32 according to the load working on the tool spindle 6, and fed to the radial bearing sections 2 and 4 and the thrust bearing section 9 to support the tool spindle 6 with the load resisting rigidity in both the radial and thrust directions. There is no contact between the spindle 6 and the bearings 2, 4 and 9 in presence of the pressure fluid thereby reducing heat generated and the power loss. From a driving gear 41, the rotation is given the spindle in a wide range of speed.
