Abstract

PURPOSE:To change an AC power source over to a low voltage or a high voltage without using parts of high dielectric strength in particular, by connecting two switching circuits in parallel or series with each other depending on the level of an input voltage. CONSTITUTION:When an input of 110V is applied from an AC power source AC, the switches S1, S2 of a changeover circuit 2 are set on contacts a. As a result, capacitors C3, C4 are coupled in parallel with each other charged and the voltages across the capacitors are applied to the primary windings L1, L1' of transformers T1, T2 through transistors Q1, Q2. Power produced across secondary windings L2, L2' is rectified by diodes D5, D6. The rectified outputs are synthesized with each other by a power synthesis circuit 5 to obtain an output power V0 between output terminals O, P. When an input of 220V is applied from the power source AC, the switches S1, S2 of the circuit 2 are set on other contacts b. As a result, the capacitors C3, C4 are coupled in series with each other and charged with the same voltages as in the case of the input of AC 110V. The following operation is the same as in the case of the AC 110V.
