Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain the output performance of an engine, by providing a recessed containing section inflated outwardly toward upstream side on inner face of exhaust pipe body for an automatic bysycle or the like, then filling it with acoustic member and choking with a porous board.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust pipe body A is formed such that a small diameter pipe 1 is inserted at the rear ends of exhaust pipe (a) and expansion tube (b) while muffler (c) is connected at the rear end. Expansion tube (b) is made by welding cut-by two members b1, b1' where section L is double structured to form a containing section 5. Said section is recessed against upstream side where an acoustic member 3 such as glass wool is filled while a porous board 4 is fixed at the inside then the containing section 5 is choked to fix the acoustic member 3. Consequently the inner face of the exhaust pipe body A is smooth and continuous from upstream side to downstream side to enable the provision of acoustic member 3 without varying the flow path area, thereby the output performance of engine can be maintained.
