Abstract

PURPOSE: A polymer mixture containing a specific amount of different components is melt spun through nozzles for hollow fibers into fibers, which is drawn after anneaing to become porous, and further heat set to produce novel title hollow fibers with high gas or liquid separation properties.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polymer such as polyolefin, fluorinated polyolefin, polyamide, polyester or polyacetal is mixed with (B) 1W60wt% of anothr polymer different in the composition from ingredient A. The resulting composition is melt extruded through nozzles for hollow fiber and taken up at low temperatures under high draft to give undrawn hollow fiber with high orientation. After annealed under tension or no tension, the undrawn fiber is drawn to form porous structure. Further, the heat set is effected to fix the fiber structure, thus giveing the objective hollow fiber having many fine pores passing through from the outside into the inner side of the hollow part and 50W2,000μ diameter.
