Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce an azo pigment useful in the coloration of rubber, etc., by coupling a tetrazotized 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine with a mixture containing a carboxyl or sulfonic group-containing acetoacetanilide type compound.
CONSTITUTION: An azo pigment is produced by coupling (A) a tetrazotized 3,3'- dichlorobenzidine with (B) a mixture containing (i) 99W55mol% of an acetoacetanilide type compound and (ii) 1W50mol% of an acetoacetanilide compound containing at least one carboxyl or sulfonic group. Examples of (i) include acetoacetanilide, o-chloroacetoacetanilide and p-acetoacetotoluidide, and examples of (ii) include acetoacetanilide-2-carboxylic acid and acetoacetanilide-2-sulfonic acid.
EFFECT: An azo pigment protected from color unclearness due to lowering in coloring power during vulcanization of rubber.
