Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A peptide derivative of the formula (R is H, amino-protecting group, or arginyl-prolyl-pheylalanyl-histidyl group).
EXAMPLE: 7-( N-tert-Butyloxycarbonyl-0-2, 6-dichlorobenzyl-L-tyrosyl )-amino-4- methylcoumarin.
USE: Useful as fluorescent substrates for determining the enzyme renin activity or an intermediate for their synthesis. For the determination, a liquid containing renin is brought into contact with a peptide derivative, and the product is subjected to the action of an enzyme to liberate 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin, which is determined.
PROCESS: A tyrosine having protected N and O atoms is condensed with 7-amino-4- methylcoumarin through dehydration, and the N-and O-protecting groups are eliminated from the condensate. The product is then condensed with valine and leucine to give the compound of formula.
