Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent formation of a hard and smooth surface skin on the surface of urethane foam, by using a hydrophilic or water-holding mold-releasing agent and a hydrophilic or water-holding urethane foam compound containing a large amount of superfluous water.
CONSTITUTION: After forming a film of hydrophilic or water-holding mold-releasing agent 6 on mold surface 4, urethane prepolymer having hydrophilic or water-holding bond and a hydrophilic or water-holding urethane foam compound containing a large amount of superfluous water are subjected to foam molding. Since the surface of urethane foam is held in contact with mold-releasing agent 6, a large amount of condensed water leaching out from urethane foam is absorbed promptly into mold- releasing agent 6, and at the same time, gases such as carbon dioxide gas and steam are also drawn into the agent 6, so that condensed water and bubbles are produced at a high concentration near the surface of urethane foam. Therefore, the surface of urethane foam thus produced is not flat but it remains in a rather rough state, so that surface skin is not formed.
