Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent of the leak out of the packing material from the specified part and to prevent the floating of the packing material, by employing the ordinary packing material for the lower part contacting with the plate, of the sliding nozzle (SN), and by employing the packing material being coated with a specified amount of the organic binder. CONSTITUTION:Into the lower part of SN contacting with the refractory plate being installed at the bottom of the ladle for the purpose of flow control, an ordinary packing material 1 is packed. This packing material 1 is generally the silica sand, granular carbon, etc., of controlled particle size. The packing material 2 is prepared from the ordinary packing material coated with the binder including one kind or more of organic binders at 0.3-10 wt%; the upper part of the SN to be contacted by the molten metal, is packed with above packing material 2; each particle composition of the packing material 2 is joined into one body by the curing of the including organic binder due to the heat retained in the ladle, forming the resin bond or the carbon bond; hereby, when the molten metal is poured into the ladle, the packing material 2 is not carried away or floated up. As a result, the tapping work is surely executed by the SN system.
